Value Of A 1979 Krugerrand - Coin Community Forum

From what I read, the value of a South African Krugerrand should be right around the spot price of one ounce of gold. As of this writing, that's $4,143.90. Assuming that the price of gold holds steady at $4,143.90 per ounce, can I expect a dealer to pay slightly less than this for a Krugerrand (and charge slightly more to those who want to buy a Krugerrand)? Can I get a better price if I sell all six of these Krugerrands to the same gold dealer, or do dealers not provide a better price for larger transactions? * Edited by Staff to crop and/or rotate images. When I see pricing as below, it tells me that this coin does not have much value beyond the value of the metal. Note that there are two versions for 1979 per this data from that site and the proof (which your coin does not appear to be) is worth as much as the non-proof and about the going price of 1 oz gold. The pricing is a guideline and not a guarantee of what you might get but it will help you focus on potentially more rare coins. Report this Post to the Staff

tdziemia Pillar of the Community United States 7975 Posts	Posted Today 1H 15M ago If you are in an urban area with mutiple coin dealers, I would call a couple and ask what they pay, and if they can do a bit better on multiple coins. Just remember that buying six means they need to have over $20,000 on hand to pay you, so at today's prices, quantity may not be an advantage, But remember the price will change tomorrow.
