no, I think some toothless, crusty old 'key-wasted' buzzard lost his change purse/beer money stash. it was in the slightly-upsloping entrance drive into a gas station, near a car wash. that seems more plausible. the coins came home with me, the sock stayed where I dropped it.

tonight wasn't a great night for picking coins, but I did make a great score, which made up for that, in advance.

it was just after midnight and I had not a single cent in my pocket yet as I was heading to the next kitties to feed, my group of squeakies (a group of kitties that I feed near a bank... I never know how many will be there on any given night, could be 2 or 3, could be 6 or 7, but they're all beautiful... I call them 'my squeakies/my squeaky kitties' in a high-pitched singsong voice when I roll up to them after midnight, as two or three of them are very vocal, and their happy happy kitty noises are squeaky-- "yay, our food human is here!")... after circling the starbucks looking for errant coin or cash (found nothing) I go past a papa john's... I spotted (with my eagle eyes) three pizza boxes outside the closed pizzeria, so I rolled over to investigate... there were 3 small pizzas that the pizza guys left out for anyone to take from atop a recycle bin... they hadn't been sitting there long, still slightly warm from the oven, so they were fresh! they do that sometimes if they have anything left over by closing... lucky me, 3 small pizzas: pepperoni, meat lovers and meat lovers w/peppers, onions, black olives and mushrooms, all are my favorites... thinking quickly, I zipped over to the squeakies (across the gfs parking lot) and fed them and quickly zipped back over to the waiting food, gathered them neatly onto my handlebars and carefully pedaled back home, keeping the stack atop the handlebars with my left hand, steering the road bike with my right. I was back home within minutes, upstairs and sampling each pizza--- yum! and let me tell you, I was extremely hungry, I suddenly had energy for the rest of the route. I still had a couple kitties to go look for, those pies energized me and riding the road bike for the next hour was a real treat. after 1am, no one out so I had the roads pretty much to myself. I didn't find much $$-- just fifty-three cents-- so the pizzas were tonight's great score. I have lunches and/or dinners for the next several days. joy.

it was fun, and timely. I had a glass of chocolate malted milk before I went out, but a glass of milk is hardly a decent substitute for a meal. I just didn't have anything to eat. I'm in the poorhouse lately, so my pantry is pretty bare, so is the fridge. but now I have a huge freezer bag full of baggies of pizza. that's helpful. one slice per baggie. like I said, now I have lunches and/or dinners for the next several days in both the freezer and fridge.

thank you, my squeakies. I wouldn't have made that score had I not been on my way to them.
