OK folks, what is the cause here?

I thought initially a Dryer Coin - the thin rims and the edge is all damages as well
Could be heat or more likely intense fire damage.
Maybe a dug coin?

Did you have that one in your pocket the day you were doing plumbing?

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Weight it - acid coin would be lighter and a heat or Dryer Coin would not lose mass so it would be the same.

Thin rims leans me towards a corrosive as the cause.
