Here's a new pickup, and my first "proof" note, a $5 demand note issued by the Bank of the State of Arkansas. The back of the note is blank. This note is listed in Haxby as AR10-G40P. This bank, along with the Real Estate Bank of the State of Arkansas, are the only two banks listed in the Haxby reference for the state. Arkansas takes up only 5 pages out of that 4-volume set...

The First National Bank of Springdale, Arkansas, was chartered on June 24, 1907 and existed until it merged and became part of First Security Bank in 2004. This was the only issuing charter in the city, which is located between Fayetteville and Bentonville in northwest Arkansas. The bank issued 1902 Red Seal, Date Back and Plain Back notes, and 1929 Type 1 and Type 2 notes, with all types being issued in denominations of $5, $10 and $20. There are a total of nineteen large size notes in the NBN census, with five of those being $10 1902 PB. All five, including this one, are listed as being in F to VF condition. Signatures of cashier J.P. Deaver and C.G. Dodson. Deaver was cashier from 1907 to 1929, and Dodson was president from 1907 to 1928.
