I just purchased my first 20 cent coin and I have a couple questions for those with more knowledge of this coin.

Is this a double die, D of DEI?

Is this a re-engraved 5?

It's a repunched D in DEI. The 5 I'm not sure, though the re-engraved 5 is the most common variety.

I would say yes on both accounts although the damage
on the top of the 5 makes it a little harder to tell.

Here's the comparison from Charlton. Yours looks to have the thicker design, and the prominent point on the inside of the tail. No doubling on mine, only dirt.
