While the Mint produces so many variants and commemoratives of its coins, it seems the BEP does not (I'll admit, I was hoping for some 250th anniversary bills).
Is there an official reason why we don't see these from the BEP? I can imagine that either lack of authorization, or some legal reason (fear of counterfeits) might account for it, but I haven't found any official discussion of this.
Were there any such 'special' currency notes offered in the past?
Thanks for any info!
