Looks like we are going to be hanging around the ~$63 zone for a bit.

Quote: Looks like we are going to be hanging around the ~$63 zone for a bit. So annoying that KITCO is the only one showing showing the "~$63 zone" right now while APMEX, COMEX and even that silly nilly Silver Future's stuff is ALL showing the ~$64 zone right now.. I am sooo done with the discrepancies...

Okay I may have spoken to soon. KITCO may be the laggard in the group and their charts are still reflecting the "Back month". KITCO may be the only one left that still hasn't rolled over their charts to mo reflect the "Front month". The Front month is currently higher than the Back month, This is called Contango. The front month is the one that's currently being traded. I'd love to explain but.. you know, Futures and stuff.. Sorry if this annoys or offends anyone because they just want to check their phone every day and see the price of "Silver" and if it went up or down and not this other mumbo jumbo that's got nothing to do with the price of "Silver" going up or down

Alright now Silver is Down from where it opened this morning so this illustration would have made a whole lot more sense if I had shown it with the price at the open. But still just do the math and you'll quickly see what I'm saying about Who is Quoting the Back Month--> KITCO, barryg And Who is Quoting the Front Month--> Me, Jbuck, COMEX, APMEXBTW this is called Contango, look it up.

Do not beat yourself up over it! Every now and then I will Submit a reply on CCF, but it will "hang" and take a while to actually post. This topic is a tab I usually leave open, so I might not wait around to see the "reply posted" message. I told you all that because I see my "~$63" post was around 9:25 AM EDT, but I assure you that I looked at my COMEX chart and posted that closer to 8 AM. Oh well. That is what I get for moving on too soon.

That makes sense Jbuck And yes I remember you saying you started using a different price chart to get a more accurate and up to date price on Silver. And yes Silver was in the ~$63 zone around 8 am when you said you checked last check it on COMEX. Makes sense the delay between posting that and the open since Silver went up to $64.43 by 9am That's why I had to go look at what the online metals dealers were quoting and quickly identified KITCO as the low man on the totem pole and coincidentally KITCO chart is the same as the September futures prices while everyone else is already rolled over into December. So it all makes sense now.

Yes and don't forget Tomorrow is the big day that all of this has been leading up to for the past month. The big decision is finally almost here. Will it be this? or this? Metals could be in for a rollercoaster of a day.

Quote: Who is Quoting the Back Month--> KITCO, barryg
And
Who is Quoting the Front Month--> Me, Jbuck, COMEX, APMEX Which is, of course, ironic given the fact that at the start of this thread I was quoting APMEX exclusively and finally switched to KITCO after being told repeatedly that APMEX did not reflect actual pricing and was too high compared to other indexes.

And I believe I followed you there as well. Then I was convinced to change again. I would not make a good politician. I do like waffles though.

Well, since I'm the one who started this thread, I get to quote whichever source I want!

I cannot argue against that.

And within 2 week's (by end of September) KITCO will have no other choice but to roll forward and join everyone else and quote the currently higher front month (December). And a couple of months after that a new front month will open for trading and everyone will start rolling into March, but not all at once, of course, so we could all start this amusing little conversation all over again But of course it will all depend if the Silver futures market is in 'Backwardation' or in 'Contango', meaning if the front month is lower or higher than the back month, and that depends on supply and demand, shortage or abundance of available silver. And depends on which online metals dealers are quoting the current front month or the back month at that given moment in time. Okay got that? Easy peasy right Don't worry I'll remind you That's why I say it's easier if we all just Quote whatever COMEX is reporting, then at least we're all seeing the same number.
