Dear all.

I recently aquired a hoard of Roman Nummus . some of them has errors and I'm posting one with double die as an example.I would like to know if it has any real value or it's considered normal.

Thanks

@sge, while I can't speak specifically for the coins of the Roman Empire, it is my opinion that any coins made by hand-presses are more likely than not to have some sort of "error" and that clear, well-centered (i.e. non-error) coins can have a premium. This is of course the opposite of modern day coins.

I love to see 'error' Roman coins. You can just imagine them in the mint striking the coin twice or whatever. Nice coin sgeneina.
Hope to see more of the hoard you have.

For it to have value, it would help if the coin was in better shape and not such a common type; but yes, double strikes can be worth a bit more more, but usually, not much more.

So, condition is important as well as the double strike. Your coin has a small bounce with not much double-striking and it is a common type, so no real added value.

Some beauties there Victor. I don't think I have any at the moment.
The third one down is brilliant, in my opinion anyway.
