PCGS Europe - This 1623 2 thalers from Germany is not only rare, it is also the finest known in the PCGS population as a PCGS XF45 specimen and features a gorgeous gray patina. It just sold for $5,246 at Stacks-Bowers.
Not seeing these connections (Graf Zeppelin...) ... guess I'm just dense, or need more coffee.
For the most part, I see these press releases as PCGS advertising.
For world coins, they are trying to catch up to NGC in market share, so they're bragging that they graded the best example of this type. But if I look at Constance thalers on acsearch, I see more than twice as many graded by NGC than PCGS, with NGC slabs going back to 2012, but PCGS only to 2021. So they (PCGS) have some catching up to do.
Fair enough. We do get to see some amazing coins from many places and eras on this part of the forum. Thanks to those who are creating them and apologies for my snarky mood yesterday.
