For the first time since 2008, the U.S. Mint is releasing fractional Gold Buffalos. Today, it was announced that on December 10, a $5 Gold Buffalo will go on sale. Given the continued popularity of the 2008 issue, I would not be surprised to see a quick sellout here. I did not see a finish specified, so I would assume that this coin is going to have an uncirculated finish, but wouldn't rule out a surprise considering the range of unannounced offerings the mint has given us this year.

If I ever wanted one, the time was ten years ago.

I would love to have one, but I wouldn't be able to afford it.
Errers and Varietys.

now there's a new coin I would love to have, but chances are they will disappear fast and I probably won't have the cash for it anyway.

Looks like I will go back into the Mint site one more time, but by then gold could be near $5,000 an ounce?

This would be a handsome coin to own. Alas it's going to cost a lot.

I'm interested in one, will watch for price and mintage. The 2008 1/10 oz gold are expensive.

They do have a premium but it hasn't moved a ton. Before gold went on this run they were running right around/under $1000 graded 70.

Looks like reverse proof and 20th for anniversary of gold buffalo that started in 2006. No dual date or 250th privy. No info about mintage or cost yet. The last gold buffalo reverse proof was a 1 oz in 2013. I'll probably try to get one on release day Dec. 10.

Quote: And for the fun of it I was in a virtual waiting room at 10:30 PM Pacific time to get to the mints website. You are a rebel! Thank you for sharing the news.

December 10th? Same day my property taxes are due. You are cruel mint. I also have (grand)children who are expecting tributes a couple weeks later.
