If they are 17th INF Korea Buffalo challenge coins, the answer is yes. If not, then the answer is no. The title says it all.

Looks like this topic was moved, perhaps?

Although called "challenge coins," I thought these items should be considered exonumia, regardless of when they were struck. Was this one struck by the U.S. Mint? Does it possess any governmental coin or monetary value as legal tender? I've never studied or owned one of these. This old guy's confused ...

ExoGuy, I resurrected this topic - it had been dormant since 2006. I suppose that things were a bit different on the CCF back then.

Yes, different then, so it was moved after resurrection. Not immediately, because I forgot. But then I remembered and here it is.

Hi everyone!

I purchased a 17th infantry Buffalo Bill coin with the dates 1950 and 1953. I'm hoping it's authentic but I'm having a very hard time figuring it out. I've read conflicting info on the material, and wear, and hole and crest. I've been comparing pictures of what I purchased to other alleged authentic coins and notice inconsistencies in color, the shape of the buffalo, the crest design for that year, etc.

I'm looking for help, can anyone tell me if this is authentic or did I buy a really good replica?

I should add, it weighs 5.03 grams.
