Here's a pillar dollar that was struck fully, from heavily polished dies. How would you grade it?

Hello — fantastic coin. I'd grade it MS62-63, leaning toward MS63. Although if the grader woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning, MS62 XD

@Sergio29, thanks for the grade. And welcome to the community! I am starting to really like Mexican/Central American/South American coins.

I will wait a little bit longer before I reveal the grade on this one. If anyone else wants to chime in...

Sergio--good guess. There's a lot of die polishing on this one--like a lot. It makes the fields look a little more chattered than they really are. There are two somewhat deep scratches that kind of form an awkward, sideways "V" to the right of the right pillar. That's my least favorite feature on this coin, although in some angles of lighting those scratches actually disappear.

Onverall, the blast white color, combined with the reflectivity, just mesmerize me. At some angles this coin looks proof-like, which astounds me, given its age. My other nice Pillar Dollar has a dark color and a deep cabinet tone. I love having two coins that have very different aesthetic qualities to help me appreciate the type even more.
