Im 13 and I started last year. What I did was I bought $20 worth of pre 1960 nickels, And started collecting them and putting them in order by year. I would start small, Then work your way up to the more expensive coins. I'm still not in the expensive coins yet. Back on topic, I would rather have a $200 coin then 10 $20 coins, but it is also fun to look at more coins and have a whole set, rather than just have that 1 coin.

I think you should buy the cheap ones. They could always have them for a type set.
