Not to rain on anybody's parade, but the difference between this and the "We Buy Your Gold and Silver" people is what? Not saying you did a bad thing, but we're quick to jump on the guys buying up the widow's collections for dirt cheap.

The pictures are good enough to give an idea of what you have. Very nice!

I do not know enough about your relationship with the seller, but given what you have told us I think the deal is fair.

In my opinion, it is more likely he would have sold them to one of the many "We buy gold and silver!" places (if only because of their persistent advertising practices). We can probably agree that such places would only pay a fraction of what a true coin dealer would. In other words, you probably did him (and the coins by preventing their destruction) a favour.

Good for you, man. He set a price that both of y'all are happy with. Ain't nothin' wrong with that. Him and his buddies are all sitting around talking about how he got one over on you and made 700 bucks.

Again, I feel the deal was fair.

Sure, the seller could have gotten more; but it is quite possible he did not want to invest much effort. I can almost guarantee he did not want to spend the time and effort selling them on ebay, let alone shopping them around to the local brick and mortar sites.

It is also possible that the seller knew jakeman would appreciate the coins and the good deal. Win-win.

This is all speculation on my part. As I said above, I do not know enough about the relationship (or the seller), so this is just an opinion.

I don't see any problem with the deal and congrats on getting such a good deal.

He approached you with the coins and he made the offer totally different than the we buy gold and silver types. Heck for all anyone knows maybe you're the only coin collector he knows and he preferred to get them in the hands of someone who would appreciate them.

Enjoy!

I do not know for sure my coworkers thoughts or reasoning for not trying to get more out of this my relationship with him is I see him in the hallway 2 or three times a day say hi how you doing and that's about it. But jbuck did hit on something about me appreciating the coins I talk about collecting at work almost everyday but no one really listens to me or shows any interest. Only thing I know is I was offered a deal and I took it

You got as good deal and if the seller was the one to make the offer then great for you. I'm assuming you're not a Rockefeller so why pay full value for the coins? Everybody is looking for a deal. Nobody here pays full price for a car, why should coins be different. Like others have said, it's not as if you were a gold/silver outfit that lowballed him. I bought a whole collection without looking through it other than some of the silver and the seller wanted so much times face value. I paid him that and some extra and found some real key coins that were worth more than the entire deal. He was extremely happy as was I.Enjoy your coins!

You got a good deal that most of us would have taken. Lol, don't be surprised if you hear of a burglary nearby where somebody lost his coin collection. Also, one thing I would do is keep quiet about your coin hobby/collection. You never know, somebody may want it and people have broken into homes for less.
