Quote: Once again beautiful examples wwwww.! Thankyou for sharing, I look forward to each new entry.! McD puts $700,000 between the first two and the third is unlisted in McDonalds. The Perth Mint proofs are a little more affordable:

Its a proof example and no doubt would be extremely rare or even unique, there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on them

Yes it's a proof 1945 florin, there are 3 known, none are available to collectors though (they're all in public collections). Some other 1945 rarities unlisted in McD: A unique 1945 pattern florin struck in .500 silver A pattern 1945 florin struck in .666 silver (one of three known)

Nancy and Walter, You must stop this; you are driving me crazy. But first, Walter please tell me how that fantastic toning was captured on the beautiful 1945 penny. I have a couple of nice ones but they would never present anyway near that well! Jeff

You can get that effect with uniform lighting, (i.e. sufficient bright lights or just natural sunlight from all directions (outdoors).
You can intensify the colouring by reflecting the light directly into the lens but you need to angle your camera to achieve this which results in some blurriness at the top and bottom of the coin.
Neither of these methods are recommended for circulation coins as they hide the surface quality (making it impossible to accurately grade from the photo - you can make a dipped gVF indistinguishable from an Unc in one of these photos so I'd certainly never purchase from such photos) but for mirror proofs it's the method I'd recommend as angled lighting will make the surface appear uneven.
