Quote: Picked this little guy up at an ephemera show last week. I thought it was just a receipt until I got home and scanned it. Very nice!

Nobody matched the earlier check vignette to currency so here it is: this version of "America" appeared on the $20 Legal Tender Notes of 1862 and 63.

Here's the latest addition to my government check collection. Each quarter, local postmasters would issue these to contractors for transport of the mail. There were very specific instructions on the backs for both the contractor and the postmaster.

Just got this one today. If you look closely you'll find two banknote imprints, National Bank Note Co. at the bottom and a monogram of ABNCo at the feet of the vignette. American BNC assimilated National in 1878, so they just added their logo to these checks when they reprinted them a few years later.

That Adams & Co. check is a beauty, Wheatback. I really like the vignette of miners working a gold sluice.
Wish I had more to add but it's be a bit slow lately.

Quote: [Click to see a Larger Image!] I especially like the D.O. Mills check -- one of the few to issue National Gold Bank Notes! (Not my note shown below.)

The stamp on the Western Savings Bank check is neat.

Quote: This one arrived not long ago. Technically, it is a certificate of deposit. Unissued, but circa 1850. The ship vignette is particularly attractive. Lovely example!
