Quote: A "Conder" type token. I'm lovin all the maritime tokens . I'm thinking I might start my own collection (not just maritime) Question:Lucky Cuss , does the doubling on your "Conder" token effect the value ? On tokens in general ? Thx

Quote: Question:Lucky Cuss , does the doubling on your "Conder" token effect the value ? On tokens in general ? Or, for that matter, the big die crack on the reverse? As far as value goes, I think not, but it's hard to gauge from the standpoint of how lttle interest there seems to be overall in the U.S. in British coinage, including even this fascinating field of "Conder" tokens. A "thin" market makes judging what really factors into pricing a tough proposition. I think technical condition is a more relevant parameter. I'd like to say rarity also plays into the equation, but I don't know if anybody has a real handle of which issues those'd be.

That's actually the answer I was hoping for . So if one is willing to speculate on the future of a "thin" market , one may be rewarded for taking the gamble. Of course this being secondary to fact that this type of coinage is (to me ) very attractive and interesting , especially in the history aspect. Thank you

Hope this isn't a repeat. And yes, this is mine out of my proof set with a little tweaking.

Great piece. "the wooden walls of old England" refers to the Royal Navy, but why would it have Prince Frederick, duke of York and Albany on the obverse? He was C in C of the British Army and not related to the RN (he was "the grand old duke of york, he had ten thousand men..." of the nursery rhyme.) Perhaps it was meant ironically? Any info on this LuckyCuss?
