**691, that may be so. but fact is that customs will and does stop counterfeit shipments of goods. Although not all. They even stop TM infractions. so why not currency and coins. the law says so. Australian laws are very similar to ours. I know your customs boys and girls are very concerned with fake stuff coming in from China and other Asian countries. and I know, AUS also has a declaration card every air traveler coming in must fill out. it becomes a legal document and is enforceable in courts. and as you know, ignorance is not an excuse. presently there is NO effort whatsoever made by customs in any country I am aware of or have been to (only 64) to even do as little as ask.... but they sure ask if you have enough money to support your stay. It is not a matter of how much time they spend with you. It is a that it is not in their job scope of what to ask and enforce. It is that the respective governments do not care one iota. and we can only change that by lobbying our elected politicians. I see no other way!
The only counterfeits from Montreal that I know of was that guy that was making fake 04/05 Toonies and was shut down by the authorities about 10 years ago. Would be interested in what other fakes came from there.
If anyone up has pictures and information about the counterfeit varieties that are presently circulating in Canada, I would not be adverse to adding a section on Canadian counterfeits to The Black Cabinet.
