i know this is not rare - compared to others shown here...but I am just an average collector with a modest collection... here is my lowest mintage coin 1860S seated liberty half 472,000   Edited by dbrablec

Easy choice for me. A Rarity 10 Civil War store card. This is the only one known. Listed for the first time in the 3'd Edition of the Fuld store card book.  |

From actual mintage numbers, I think my lowest mintage coins have just competed in Guess the Price:  99.7% of all coins were already melted before being accessible to anyone. Of the initial 6.000.000 10Øre pieces, only 9.667 remained. Of the initial 2.400.000 15Øre pieces, only 10.300 remained. Of the initial 1.600.000 50Øre pieces, just 9.238 remained. Now... these are the numbers of coins being shipped from London to Oslo. The coins have been for sale at face value from 1945 to 1970. Given that they were only for sale in sets and that there were still sets available at the bank after 25 years, I don't know how many really survived or what happened to the coins that weren't sold. I've been trying to find out, but it seems that it's a rather difficult question. So it's possible that the actual mintage number is lower than stated here. |

Not sure if varieties or errors count, but if so I think my AG-03 1867 2 Cent DDO is my lowest mintage/survival rate. I have not been able to find solid estimates but there are probably several hundred left. Being a lowball probably also adds to the uniqueness, especially since the error is still visible! The lowest mintage coin I own is a 2015 Eisenhower reverse proof dollar. This is not really a rare coin but it is the best I have, sorry my picture will not download. There was supposed to be 17,000 made but only 16,744 were sold. I'm not sure what happened to the other 256.

<- my avatar, a Beta Phi Sigma challenge token - mintage 7  Stamped over Indian Head cents by Dyer jewelers for a group of 7 high school friends in 1899 to mark the start of their fraternity. The frat went on to have multiple international chapters, where as Dyer's went out of business in the late 1990s due to overseas competition. Very cool design, and researching it was some of the most rewarding numismatic work I've done to date. |

I love this unique coin/token since it has a very detailed and lifelike profile of Abe's head and also represents my birthplace; this obv. device extends almost a 1/4" out from the field:   If one wishes to further assist in the research of this coin/token, possibly we could find at least one other similar documented example by commenting in the 2013 CCF thread below; as it is now it remains my lowest mintage coin at just 'one'... http://goccf.com/t/160686&SearchTer...incoln,token |
