Quote: Those present a very interesting look. Part of the strange look may be that the original color balance of the prints was very brownish. I probably used daylight film with incandescent lights, and perhaps the prints have faded as well. The negatives may have been overexposed, too, leading to low quality prints. After scanning, I used Photoshop to try to correct the color balance somewhat, but ended up having to desaturate time images perhaps 50%, making the images look somewhat blaxk abdd white.

Sound like it woulda been a lot easier to just take a new picture. If you still have the coin.

The coins are mostly in safety deposit boxes, depending on how much space they take up (slabbed, raw, GSA, etc.) and how much they're worth. It's a hassle to go to the bank and rummage around for a particular coin (or a few) for this thread. I'm planning on rephotographing the collection, once my lighting and coin photography skills have improved enough to get decent-looking coin images. That's one reason I joined up here -- lots of information and tips over in the coin photography section.
