Seems like we need some moderation here?

Feel free to post your latest acquisitions, as many do enjoy seeing them, but there is no need to update us on the current status of every sale. It does take this tread into the promotional grey area.

You can post when something new is available, but try to do this only if you bought it. Others are free to do the same; you may have passed on something that someone else bought, so give them the chance. Try to avoid bumping it just to get attention, but I will not forbid you to ask the question, "Did someone here buy that latest offering?" You are certainly welcome to post when something you bought has now sold out.

The general idea is to treat this like the hot and/or limited mint sales (the C&C sets, the Liberty medals, etc). Everyone can join in, but it cannot be a one man promotional show. I think the "19 left" post is okay, but coming back with one for 18, 17, down to the end or every ten minutes would be unnecessary.

Make sense?

Jbuck, you know I respect you but

A) I only post about what I buy unless it's a passing comment and

B) Countdowns happen all the time on US mint offering threads of hot items or items about to sell out etc.

Just because the Moonlight Mint isn't as popular as the US mint should mean it is treated any differently. I don't see me doing anything wrong here. I do take umbrage with trouts comments however and his views shouldn't change how things are run or cause one thing to be treated any different than another that is exactly the same.

I know a few people have alerts set up on this thread and that was a hot item going very quickly. I bought 3 myself and wanted to do my best to give others an opportunity to get one.

And furthermore, I have no financial interest or any interest at all in how many or how well Moonlight Mint items sell, or don't sell. I do it so as to try my best to give others here a chance to get one if they wish before they're gone. JUST LIKE US MINT ITEM THREADS that do the exact same thing

A) True.

B) True. But re-read what I said. It is okay to follow the mint sales thread examples, just do not go overboard.

Again, I said "I think the "19 left" post is okay, but coming back with one for 18, 17, down to the end or every ten minutes would be unnecessary." Restated, your first post was okay, but if you or someone else came back every ten minutes with an update then we might have a problem.

These Dan Carr offering are NOT Exactly the same as Genuine Mint issues at all. The Jury is still Out as to whither these are "Kosher" or not, Some think they are others think they are not.
That is Not the case with coins and medallions issued by the US, Canadian or Australian Mint.
You can take "umbrage" all you like Mate, It doesn't alter the fact that it is always You that promotes and advertises the Dan Carr offerings to the point where your posts look like a late night "Demtell" advert.
I would have grabbed one of these dodgy Morgan's before But I am just waiting for the Free half a dozen steak knives before I pull the trigger

In the context of your previous statement they are exactly the same thing mate. Have you ever heard the American expression "six to one, half-dozen to another" that sums it up well. As to me "promoting" them, that's simple... I like them

Not going to happen

Quote:
At some point, most of us have heard that water spins down a drain in different directions depending on which hemisphere we happen to be in. The fact is, the Coriolis force (an apparent force as a result of the Earth's spin) has virtually nothing to do with which direction water spins as it empties down a drain. Although this force is "real" and does have an affect on other large, long-lived systems that travel great distances (such as hurricanes, high and low pressure systems, and long range artillery shells), water draining from toilets, sinks, and bathtubs are rendered virtually immune from its affects. The Coriolis force is much too weak to have any affect on such small, short-lived rotating bodies of water under normal conditions.

Now about those steak knives
