And so mcshilling has saved the thread! Thanks for posting the Canadian $10!

2017 has been posted yesterday, so today it's time for 2016 (two of which have already been posted before, so if nothing new appears today, we can still move on), tommorow - 2015 and onwards... well, backwards!

2015: a commemorative 20 dollar banknote from Canada (and almost a radar).

What is it commemorating, you may ask? Well, I have no idea. It seems Canadian money will commemorate absolutely anything, so it is getting hard to keep track of what everything has been issued for...

Banknote.ws says it's "Queen Elizabeth II becoming the longest-reigning sovereign in Britains's history"
Well, that would have been hard to figure out. Anyway, thanks for posting!

Now does anyone have a note dated 2014?

Well, I guess that explains why the banknote says "a historical reign." If only it said just a little more than that though.

I have nothing for 2014, though I do have some Canadian notes for the next two years after that. But if we are already stuck on 2014, I imagine getting very far along in this banknote edition will be quite difficult. I wonder if we will even be able to make it into the 1800s?

I shall not let this thread get stuck so quickly

Every few years there is an American dollar bill series, which will certainly help further on - but we'll still have to fill the gaps with foreign notes. As for how far back we'll be able to get - your guess is as good as mine.

This one is in very bad condition, but it is the only polymer 5 dollar banknote I have with the signatures of Macklem and Carney. That signature combination was only released on the first group of notes (I think the first half of the HBG run), since Carney's signature was replaced by Poloz's shortly after. If I recall correctly, this signature combination was considered rare at first, but then lots started to show up.

To follow Joseph's 2013 Canadian $5, here's another one along with a 2013 $10:

I'm excited for this thread! I won't be able to participate a lot, but I have some notes to contribute starting again in 2008!

2012: 50 dollars from Canada. This has got to be my favourite serial number that I have found in circulation so far, even if it is not considered special to anyone other than me.

2012 was the year Canada started putting the current polymer notes into circulation. They somehow managed to make our already Monopoly-looking-money look even more ridiculous. At first, there were a lot of complaints about this new composition. And after five or so years, I am still hearing people complain. Oh well, I guess.
