Ceylon 16b(2) 1931 1 Rupee

Note the perforated edge meaning it came out of a booklet. I am calling the type(2) with the non-booklet form notes as (1).

British India and Ceylon banknotes were issued in a booklet form like a cheque book. You would tear one out when spending it.

Fascinating! But now it is time to move onto 1930:

10 Customs Gold units, China. Does anyone know what the conversion rate to dollars was?

In November 1928 The Bank of England released these 10s notes signed by Mahon, this one is from roughly the middle of the serial numbers and given that Catterns became the signatury in 1930 can only be from 1929.

As the opening rules say:
Quote:
You must post a photo of the actual banknote you own. We do not care who took the photo.
This is presumably intended for cases like mine.

Specifically, I won the banknote in this contest. The picture is from the same thread - I suck at banknote photography.

(The crop is mine though and I actually wanted to take the banknote out just to make a photo of the date, but I've misplaced it again recently.)

Poland, 50 z#322;oty, 1929.
No reverse photo, sorry.

(The date is at 4h just off center in the second image, and the new Optimizer didn't let me crop it down any further. Pretty sure the old version had no problem with crops being tiny.)

1929, good! If we can get to the early 20s would should be good until before WW1.

OK, here is an 1869 remainder from the Oxandaburu y Garbino bank in Buenos Aires. The bank was the creation of two Argentinian ranchers, Oxandaburu and Garbino, and was done to provide finances to develop the Argentine economy.

These remainders show lovely Victorian designs and allegorical motifs, and are from the American Bank Note Company in New York. Many design segments were re-used on later issues, it's not uncommon to see the back of a Uruguayan note on the face of a Mexican Banco, or an anchor in Bolivia appearing in Nova Scotia, that kind of thing.
