We still need a Philly.
1953-S A lot of die scratches on both, the obverse, and the reverse. And a couple cool die cracks on the reverse.

Yeah, looks like a MAD reverse as well. They sure got their "money's worth" out of that die.

Even looks like the die was polished to get rid of more of the "screw up"

I found this one a long time ago. Didn't know what it was and was on the phone with Ken Potter ( pre Email age and shamelessly name dropping ) and described it to him and was told it was a recent discovery. Way before it had a FS#.

Very interesting! Great story! Your story reminds me of me, (without Ken Potter that is )

I've been filling holes in the old Whitman album and collecting since I was a kid, many many years ago. It's only been recently (the past several years) that I've been going back through all the coins and searching for these types of errors and varieties. I've actually gotten pretty lucky.

P.S. My only fear is that I might have something significant/rare in my collection and don't know it!

Mark, don't really know what Mr Potter did before Variety Vault but worthless just might be describing some other poor soul
UssID18 , my 1957-D re-engraved tail feathers quarter that I put up on page 8 of this post was in a roll of 1957-d unc. Quarters that I had held on to for years. Only this year did the variety come on my radar !
