These green velvet cases are obviously older and I have seen them here and there with these presidential medals, but I don't know when they were made and whether or not they were sold with the medals at the time. James Earle Fraser Society of Medalists #45 (1952) Pony Express - New Frontiers Bronze and Silver variants. (I would love a silver one) My pamphlet issued with Medal and more info than I am providing shown below as well. The reverse of this Medal is a rework of the Oregon commemorative reverse James designed (his wife Laura was the other designer on the Oregon commem). Simply a beautiful piece of art from one of my favorite artists.

That is a fantastic medal scopru and you did a great presentation there. Reagan medal - Issued in 1981, was designed & sculptured by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Elizabeth Jones. I would certainly keep the green case/box. Probably one of the earliest struck. Maybe the President or White House had something to do with those in that case? |

@scopru: Gorgeous example of the Fraser Pony Express/New Frontiers medal! Congrats! Thanks for sharing it here on CCF!
It's on my proverbial list for "someday" but I haven't been an active searcher for years. Maybe your beautiful medal will reinvigorate my search!?
