Good stuff, Rob.
Have you considered starting a new forum for Porcupines on Coins?

Quote: Have you considered starting a new forum for Porcupines on Coins? I don't know how many contributions that would get! I got this ia a Boot Sale (like a big garage sale) this morning, among various pre-decimal UK coins and a few foreign coins in a 1970s 'Collecta' album (I really just wanted the album). It's a private medallion issued for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953:

I picked up this Howard Ruff coin the other day for much less than the value of the silver and didn't think much more of it until I started to dig around a little and could only find similar Ruff coins, one with the same obverse (except for the date) but different reverse another with the same reverse but a different obverse. In fact, I couldn't even find another Ruff coin from 1987. Not bad, huh?

Wyatt LA. JPL Co. - 1/4 Day. CF 9261 Ac; Brass, 27 mm. R9. From Crawford and Farber: "Tentative attribution to Jackson Parish Lumber Company which was a planing mill in operation here briefly circa 1904. While the denominations represent time worked, the redemptive values were likely based on ten cents per hour with ten hour workdays."

Tensas LA. Tensas River Lumber Co. Ltd. / Good For $1.00 In Merchandise. CF unlisted. Aluminum, 34 mm. Crawford and Farber listed a 10¢ token with this description: "Headquartered in Cincinatti, Ohio, this company was in business between 1910 and 1915. The only known example has a neat 2 mm hole in the center, which may have been made post-issue, likely as a cancellation." There are images of other $1.00 tokens on tokencatalog, so this one is not unique.

Shown above is the 76mm version of Sidney Waugh's Hall of Fame for Great Americans at NYU rendering of Thomas Jefferson, (c) 1962, struck by MACO [ #1963-001-003 ]. Waugh died in late June, 1963. According to his NYT obituary, Quote: For 30 years Mr. Waugh was chief associate designer for Steuben Glass, a division of the Corning Glass Works. A glass bowl he designed was chosen by President and Mrs. Harry S. Truman as a wedding gift for Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1947. He also designed glass gifts for Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, the Shah of Iran and former King Farouk of Egypt. More recently he designed a glass cup given by the Cabinet to President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954. During World War II Mr. Waugh served in North Africa and Europe with military intelligence and Allied Military Government. Much of his work involved the security of art treasures, and some of these duties were performed under fire. He received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Croix de Guerre twice and was made a Knight of the Crown of Italy.
