Look at it this way, you have right there nearly a third of a collection of all the Ikes made for circulation. Strange the 76 P almost looks like it has a type 2 obv and a type 1 rev. But I must admit I do have some problems recognizing the type 1 obv. Type 1 rev is easy.

Quote: Check this thread out if you have not already. I'm bummin' that I get all those "photobucket" pics that don't open. I did notice one thing on all 5 of the ones I have, each one has MD on the lettering - it must have been a pain for the stamping machine to strike them!!

The Ikes have notoriously weak strikes. The earlier the date the worse it is. Add to that the fact they were not included in mints sets for the first two years and you can see how difficult it is to find a 71 or 72 in high grade. Those two years are going to be costly for my slab set.

Quote: Those two years are going to be costly for my slab set. Yeah, I see that now. I though Ikes would be a dime a dozen (just a figure of speech) but I see Ikes slabbed in 67 are pretty darn expensive! What is all this "Brown Ike" I hear that supposedly so collectible?

The OGP for 40% silver proof Ikes from 1971 to 1974 is a plastic lens (same one use for the proof sets) housed in a brown box. This is the brown Ike. The OGP for 40% silver uncirculated Ikes from 1971 to 1974 is cellophane (same one use for the mints sets) inserted into a blue envelope. This is the blue Ike.
