Perhaps it depends on where you live.

I had so much problems getting packages near downtown Los Angeles, I have them shipped to other address.

I think 99% of the mail carriers do difficult and fantastic jobs, but when you get that 1%, it's a nightmare.

Couple of USPS insurance claims that I was involved were total waste of time. You need to go through your credit card or Paypal insurances.

I live on the outskirts and its a 6hr drive from Markham, Ontario to Montreal, Quebec. $25 is the standard price they charge that for pretty much everything. That's why when I win a lot I wait till the end of the month to send everything at once. \it cost the same if I ship one thing or 10.

And People whine and complain about $4 to $8 Shipping on ebay!
Recent auction lots from Spink .......cost me 50 Pounds. DNW lots 44.00 pounds.

An auction house in England charged me a £100 'packing fee'!

We have private insurance cover all of our packages above a certain dollar amount... Every once in a while packages are mishandled or 'disappear', for items over a certain dollar amount, it is worth the peace of mind to have them insured
