"Erratic" does make sense, though, as it's used in geology for a stone which was deposited out of context (for instance by melting out of a glacier).
I did once get a 1970s Mexican 10 peso piece (the polygonal cupronickel type with head of Hidalgo) in a roll of half-dollars, & was not best pleased.

Found a small dollar coin in a roll of halves, and it still had all the halves! $1.00 profit.
