In my opinion coins in well circulated grades like that and details coins with minor problems are the best for albums.
True. That is the reason why my high grade Ikes will stay in slabs. That set is not meant to upgrade the lower grade coins in the Dansco, but compliment them.

I would honestly much rather buy a raw rare date coin from a reputable dealer and put it in a Dansco than to break a certified one out of a slab.

Yes, it may take some time and effort to find raw, uncertified key date coins, but with a little work it STILL can be done.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

That has always been my coal, but I have to be realistic. My 1914-D LWC was raw and I might be able to get the 1913-S V2 Buffalo raw. However, I have yet to see a raw 1909-S VDB or 1916-D dime at the coin shows.

My LCS had a really nice 1909 S-VDB Raw for sale. He's been in business for a long time, and I trust what he sells. It was about Vf20, didn't appear cleaned at all. He wanted $810 for it. He doesn't get them in too often and it didn't last long!

Nice! I would probably expect seeing one at an LCS long before a coin show. It is easier to take the risk if you are buying from an LCS, especially after spending years to build a relationship.
