Nice. The silver really pops against that red background.

With the swirls and concentric circles in it, every time I look at the back label I think there's a huge fingerprint on it.

Nice WJ Bison nickel, ARCoins, and !

I thought the WJ (mini) series was pretty cool and this is a sweet example. Is PF-70 Ultra High Cameo the absolute highest designation the TPGs give?

I believe the proof 70 Ultra Cameo is the highest designation.

I really dig this new red core holder by NGC. This is my first silver Panda. I bought the coin. . . . AND the holder. Don't judge me.
I can appreciate it, for sure.

I got this for my daughters upcoming birthday to go with her silver Isshu-Gin and Ichibu-Gin coins.

It is a ~60% gold Japanese coin from the 1800's

I really like the Chinese pandas, but since they went to 30g instead of 1 oz. troy, I am not interested in paying that much over spot for not even an ounce of silver. I guess last year was my last panda purchase. Those holders do make the coins stand out though.

Just picked this up yesterday in Cordoba. It is a 1947-S Republic of the Philippines 75% silver 50 Centavo struck in commemoration of General MacArthur leading the invasion to re-take the P.I. from the Empire of Japan in 1944. IT was minted in San Fransisco

General MacArthur's relationship with the Philippines goes back into the 1930's when he was special adviser to the Philippine President Quezon when they were moving towards independence. MacArthur led the defence of the P.I. when the Japanese invaded until he received a direct order from president Roosevelt to evacuate then went on to find ways to assist the resistance and then plan the re-capture of the islands later in the war.

The Filipino people generally held MacArthur in a positive light as you can probably imagine.

Can you elaborate on this -- a "bargain" in what way? I'm just trying to understand different collecting strategies.

Do you feel this is going to appreciate in value over time? I believe 2,275,000 of these were minted. I bet a huge percentage would meet NGC's "PF 70 Ultra Cameo" designation. So does this really represent "conditional" rarity?

I love this design by the way. Kind of a companion to the vintage Buffalo nickel for sure.
