I guess it would be a nice starting point for building a small collection of coins that circulated where he lived. Even if you'd only get some minors, I imagine it would be fascinating to have coins your ancestors may have used more than 130 years ago in Germany. I received these two Prussian minors within the last couple of days, and I am waiting for 2 more coins to come. The first one is a 1783 3 Pfennig coin, minted in Berlin under the famous Frederick the Great. Is is not really a common coin so I am happy that I got it for a low price. The second one is a really nice 4 Pfennig coin, also minted in Berlin. I bought it on ebay.com and I always gotta smile when I buy a German coin in the US, that now comes back to Berlin, in this case more than 150 years after it has been minted. Quite a journey, right? ;) It has barely been in circulation and therefore replaces another coin of that type in a rather bad shape. Report this Post to the Staff

Just 30 coins to go and my Norwegian Kroner type collection is finished. Unfortunately for me, this includes a few rare gold and silver ones...
