Meanwhile I can add Mr Gunmoney's more established rival for the class of 1689! This stunner is the more scarce 2nd shield and features the royal lovebirds themselves. Nice circulation cameo which should impress JBuck. (Yes this ad nauseaum as the coin appears on my thread, the acquistions thread - but I love to spread the love around).

3 more coins from this era in my collection to add. 1. Queen Anne Halfcrown - the very end of this era 1707 Edinburgh - Post Union type, high Fine with a gouge around the Queen's mouth! 2. William III Shilling 1696E - Great Recoinage Honest almost fine coin, minted at Exeter as part of His Majesty's and Newtons Great Recoinage of 1696 - 1700. Mainly to retire coins like the one below from usage! 3. Edward VI Shilling 1551 or 1553 Creased but high Fine coin, this is nicer in the flesh and you can see some of His Majesty (Tudor coins are notorious for bad and worn portraits, unless high grade). It is the late period of 1551 onwards when a good silver coinage was introduced to replace devalued base metal coins earlier in the reign and the late Henry VIII era as the king needed silver to pay for fruitless wars with France and the Empire. Currently this is my oldest British coin and only my 2nd Tudor era one.

Thank you @sjkrose, @Princetane, @jbuck I bought it back in 2007. Still haven't cracked it out the slab for some reason.

I used to think that way, but came to realize that as long as I can see both sides, it is no different than being in an album or a 2x2. The only difference may be the ease of holding it raw, should the desire arise, but I have never had that urge once a coin has been put in an album. This ultimately let me be okay with building the slabbed collection of Ikes to go along side the one in an album. Regardless, you should always do whatever makes you happy because that is most important! 15 years is a long time to wait...
