Three groats of Edward's father, King Henry VIII. The first two are from the third coinage (London and York) and the third is posthumous issue (London).

Well, I've not bought a coin for my collection since July last year, so quite pleased to pick this up. An example of the last issue of shillings from the reign of Charles I. Spink 2804, Sharp H3/2. The Sceptre privy mark dates it to some time after 15 February 1647- Not perfect, but it's very difficult to find these evenly struck. Ex Tim Owen, ex J M Ashby, who bought it from Baldwins in 1951 (in the days Baldwin used to buy entire collections from people like Lingford and Carter!) Seller's pic for now.

I agree, I love all of your Charles coins Tom, you seem to have the market in Carolean coins cornered.
t360, that Edward 6 shilling is definitely a much better example than mine and good historical background, love that portrait. It makes the young king look more healthy and robust than he was, being sickly most of his bare 15¾ years of existence.
Also really like those H8 Posthumous groats, that portrait did nothing for him, but such historic coins from the "Old coppernose" era.

I agree, quite a bit like mine!
James II is always a great king to get coins from, his short reign makes them more collectible than ever.

I like it!
Beautiful strike, good flan and lots of nice metal discoloration and circulation cameo. Nice portrait, its a good package overall, and its from an ex manorial collection - so it has pedigree.
I would take delight in the fact you have such a nice coin!
