Hondo Boguss, nice one. Nickel lunches back in the territorial days served with a half pint glass bottle of milk sealed with the pog cap.

Last one from the box from Ohio. If this is legit it's an amazing find. I have compared it to others in the Stacks-Bowers archive and it looks ok. Also there does not seem to be an issue with fakes online. I'm going to send it to NGS unless someone here thinks otherwise. 1882 HAWAII HAIKU PLANTATION Token

Dar76124, definitely authenticate this token (Item TE-15, Medcalf Russell, "Hawaiian Money").
The devices on the obverse are sugar cane above the 1882 and taro below.
A little history I dug up from my Medcalf Russell catalog: Haiku Sugar Plantation was located in the town of Haiku (north central Maui). The 4,000 acre plantation in 1882 employed 175 men and produced 2,000 tons of sugar (annually I assume). 125 yoke oxen provided the hauling and cutivation power. Before the introduction of machinery, the oxen turned the grinding wheels that extracted the cane sugar.

Thanks guys.
Deadmunny, I actually ordered it from Hawaii. I don't totally recall but I think they went by the Royal Hawaiian Mint. It was more expensive than I like to spend for one of these but I thought it was unique enough to make an exception.
