The sorry continues____ As you can understand the temperature were excessive and as mentioned the Sandstone pub was the only relief from the heat,If you were thinking of cold showers think again there were no such things as cold showers,as you turn on the cold water faucet/tap(from here on it will be known as a tap)for a short 5 to 10 seconds of cold water (very brief) followed by hot water out of the cold water tap, this water was hot enough to shower in without introducing the water from the hot water tap. The only other relief was the air conditioning in the cars which I am guilty of using especially in 49c to 50c degree dry heat but with LPG and petrol at a premium this was not often done,so it was back to the pub for a few coldies also a few meals (the meals were very good there but very expensive too)and a few more coldies to wash it down, behind the hotel/pub there was accommodation in the form of site sheds they call dongers supplied with air conditioners for $60 a night but no we toughed it out in the late night heat in a canvas camper trailer, sometimes relief would come the next morning with lower temperatures that allowed us to detect till the late afternoon but this didn't happen all that much also with storms some afternoons would through humidity into the equation and we would be twice as dry forcing us to drink more beer ,sorry no pic of this or the pub and town as this is where I was forced to economize on the photo's (if you go to facebook and google up Sandstone WA you will see a site called "the friends of sandstone"go into this sit for photo's of the pub and people associated with this thread). As the pub was the only place in town with social entertainment we did get to meet a few of the more colorful locals this town had to offer,a he/she called Rosalyn a returned vet named Dick (great personality) a Sandstone tour guide story teller called Dundee and Pete the publican with the photographic memory just to name a few, these people did make the stay a pleasing one anyway I've board you long enough now I'll continue the story next week with the brake downs of the cars and detectors meanwhile stay safe and be safe Harry

The country in and around Sandstone is breathtaking, about 35 to 45 ks out on the left on the Pains Find/youanme rd there is a spectacular breakaway, about 75 ks out from Mt Magnet on the Mt Magnet/Sandstone rd there is a big quartz blow, these quartz boulders are huge. On the Meekatharra/Sandstone rd 200 ks from Sandstone on the right there is a big rock monolith almost as big as Uluru also around most of the mining communities some waste dumps from the mines look like mountains they are that big,on the Sandstone/Lenster rd just out about 25 ks on the right the road passes over the top of a breakaway with very good views it's worth while having a look this is just to name a few,you will make up your mind once you've seen them as to which one's are worth your while. regards Harry

This is a story of the breakdowns with the car and the detector (GPX 4500). They started in South Australia upon reaching the Vic/S.A. border the car developed a wine and it seemed to be coming from the alternator,by the time I reached Port Augusta It was worse but intermittent so I stopped by a mechanic there and asked him if he could find the fault he said it was an alternator pulley and had to be replaced and that I was to find an electrical mechanic for the job O.K. here I am six hundred ks away from civilisation in a town that looked hungry for money and yes you guest it gullible me got taken for a lot more than it should have cost,I'm lucky to come away with my shirt and a new alternator and still didn't fix the problem (found out latter it was the next pulley over ). The next problem was my fault as I spiked a tyre in the bush 4X4 driving this was the right front and the left front was a little worse for ware so a $180 dollar tyre cost me $350 X 2 small town bush prices and yes they saw me coming ,then I hit a bolder at speed hidden in the bull dust taking out the right front drive axle so there was another they saw me coming $650 dollar part for $1000 ,so all up the repairs set me back $3000 in total including the replaced pulley. O.K. the detector was working fine (4500) then one day it didn't switch on so we had one working detector between the two of us until one of the locals lent my mate his GPXtream very nice bloke by the name of Noel Dundee to his mates,as my mobil phone didn't work out in the W.A. outback (I was with the wrong carrier and a week latter) I had to drive the six hundred ks to Kalgoorie to buy another mobil that would work in that part of the bush and as this was the only place that my existing mobil would work rang up Coiltek where I brought the 4500 and let them know it was down for the count, they said that the day I was talking to them was the last day for the warranty oh no that means I'll have to foot the bill for the fix, then they surprised me by saying that they would still honer the warranty and send it back to them thank you Coiltek what great people and when they say they will look after you they look after you ,two weeks latter my mate was swinging the 4500 again. While I was in Kalgoorie I thought to buy a new detector leed head phones and speaker lucky I did,the leed broke at about the same time as the speaker did and the head phones were replace a week latter, this the only drawback with the new detector the Leeds are sub standard so if you buy a 4500 or a 5000 buy a few leeds for back up as you go through them every 50 to 70 hours, well this is the last installment of the W.A. trip hope you enjoyed it as much as I did,I took the good with the bad and still enjoyed this fantastic country. regards Harry P.S. I'll be in the Victorian Golden Triangle in four day time and I'll spend ten day there so I hope to bring you more gold photo's of the trip. Be safe and stay safe

Steve you just might be right but not as much fun forsure,O.K.last November's trip I finally found the photo's so while I'm away in the gold fields I'll give you something to wet your lips, the first one you have seen before but this time It's not a copy of a copy and the second one is the 4.9gr with a 1 + grammar and the third is a small 2 + grammar. All up these were just over 8 gramms and part of the 1/2 oz "I'll be back" now who said that See you in 16 days time until then stay safe
