Ok got more comparison pictures, in some of the photos I used a green arrow to show the coin in question, and a blue arrow for the "normal" coin.

On the second photo, forget about the bottom arrows. I think that might be normal after looking at the original photo I posted of the reverse. Not sure though.

I agree that this shows a late die state. But I also see that the peripheral design has expanded radially to reach the edge of the coin. This would then be a modest example of a design creep error (flared die face). I do like the doubling, which is a side effect I haven't seen before. If you're willing, I'd like to study it more closely and potentially write it up for Coin World. -- Mike Diamond

Thanks for the replies! Will have to look into that more. Something that didn't come up for me when searching google.

Mike,
I am newer to the Coin World and I'm not sure what that means for you to study it closer, or what you would do to write it up. Are you asking if I'll send the coin to you? Sorry if this is an obvious question.

Coop,
Does it being on both sides change the creep error idea?

Yes, I'm asking to see if for further study and a potential write-up. I only see evidence of design creep on the reverse face. More information can be found here:

Hermz, I would take up on Mike's offer. Just my suggestion though. Your choice my friend.

Not a big deal either way. Like I said, it's a modest example of design creep. It only becomes significant when the design is cut off along the edge. I was mainly intrigued by the doubling in HALF DOLLAR as I'm unsure of the mechanism responsible.
