Almost missed 2012 coin day!

How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Seventh-Edition!-Ended-At-1380-Waiting-On-1379 How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Seventh-Edition!-Ended-At-1380-Waiting-On-1379

British Indian Ocean Territory, 2 pounds, 2012
Life of Queen Elizabeth series - Queen Mother
Numista 69618 (not my pics but maybe they should be because those pics are worse than mine)

The obverse of this NCLT crown features two different portraits of Elizabeth II; the reverse also shows Elizabeth II, next to her mother (who was also named Elizabeth, as it happens).

I know of several other types that feature Elizabeth II three times, and I think I've seen a commemorative with three portraits of someone else, but I can't think of any coin type with four (or more) different depictions of the same person. I'm sure they exist but so far I hadn't found any.

EDIT: forgot to mention - some day I hope to get an example of British Indian Ocean Territory's first commemorative coin, which apparently commemorates "the first commemorative coin of the British Indian Ocean Territory"... that is to say, itself. To the best of my knowledge this is the only coin type to commemorate itself.

Here's a not-so-nice pairing of definitive-style UK 2012 £2 coins. This is the real deal:

But this is a crude forgery (found in circulation):

I am glad you did not! I know how it stinks to miss a day, like I did 2015.

Much better range now guys - Love seeing everyone's pieces and enjoying this modern era. As you all know I only really "discovered" CCF around the time we hit the mid 1980s on the 6th edition - so this is catch up for me.

NumisRob - I am amazed that Belize were still using that really old fashioned design in 2012, its 1950s and has the 1950s colonial portrait of the Queen in 2012!! Even Hong Kong and Mauritius heave hoed it in the mid 1970s!

2011 Nauru $10 - This thing's only 50% silver so it's worth less than face value.

2011 was an abysmal year for New Zealand, like 2012 just 1 coin was issued and it was again the 10 cent piece. We seemed to have a huge demand for our most worthless coin.

Also shown is a 5 cent coin from Australia

I am going to upload some fresh photos of international coins tomorrow.
