A wild card bonus opportunity or two would be FUN, unless you feel that there's someone who may be a little serious about this contest. Maybe even awarding negative points for clowns who guess before coins are posted, lol.

I have decided that I am going to throw some bonus opportunities out there. I am trying to figure out a way to make it fair as well. Contest should start up tomorrow. Until then...

I'm totally against the bonus points & here's why. The idea was thrown out there & then decided on before I had a chance to comment. That was the same thing that happened with the bonus points, whoever was online first got the points. What possible rational can there be for giving points to whoever is online the most, or whoever has one of those fancy phones that alerts them when they get an email for a topic they subscribed to.

As jbuck said he is trying to coe up with a way to make the bonus points fair. I agree that it shouldn't be a first come kind of thing cause I too don't get online too often and don't have one of those fancy phones. The points would be to help people who don't usually do as well as others.

I agree with trdhdr007.For those who don't do well on their guesses should put additional research into their guesses. Those who don't have fancy/cell phones would then be at a disadvantage. This is a guess the price contest, not who puts in the fastest guess. Just my 2 cents.

Here's an idea for bonus points. At the end of round 9 there could be a bonus round for those people who are unable to win. The bonus points could be enough to put them in a position where they could win with a first place guess on the final round. Only those people who have guessed on every round up to that point would be eligible. Here's an example:
murty & wheezydog would not be eligible for the bonus round because they have too many points, DLK20 would not be eligible because he didn't participate in every round. Assuming we gave each person enough points that they would be able to win IF they came in 1st on the final round then....trdhrdr007 would be elgible for 5 bonus points, nod2003 & COINAHOLIC would be eligible for 20 points, & coinyoungsta would be eligible for 30 bonus points. Depending on how ya'll wanted to work it bonus points could be given to just 1 person, the top 2 people, or 3 like we do the regular rounds.
murty 90 wheezydog 80 trdhrdr007 75 nod2003 60 COINAHOLIC 60 coinyoungsta 50 DL20K 25

I think that is a pretty good way of doing it. Anyone else?

I was going to come up with something more creative than the "first to post" method. It would probably be something tied to the round deadline, that is, no one would know who got the points until the round ended; and this would allow me to only give points to those that did not win or place in the round.
I do like trdhrdr007's idea; I have always wanted to give the consistent participants some help. I am going to have to think about this one a bit.
Meanwhile, the coin will be posted in a bit, so hold tight.

How about something like a #3 from the furthest off gets runner up points.
This would benefit some of the folks that are legitimately trying, but just miss the mark a little. The idea of using the #3 from the furthest will insulate the integrity of the additional points by preventing someone from just blindly guessing $1,000,000 on every coin to receive points.
Just a thought but I enjoy the contest as it is regardless.

Sorry about not posting the coin yet, guys. I got sidetracked on Friday.
I like RFB's idea. I will ponder the wording of it, but I an additional runner-up would be nice. Any objections?
