Hi

Here is a close up:

Uk~-Interesting-Find-From-The-Circulation-In-The-Uk~

I'd now like to say I'm 100% convinced only the outer ring is painted but I'm not. The inner ring looks like it is covered too but I just can't tell to be sure.

Over the weekend my local supermarket had a huge load of shiny new 2014 Technology £2 coins delivered the armored truck on Friday , and one of the £2 I got had weak lettering on the 4 in 2014 , its the first time I have seen evidence of a possible Grease Filled Die in a coin above a 20p Be on the lookout for some ladies & gents

Here is my story and the story goes ....I wanted to go a checkout machine that was spitting out a lot of 2 pence coins today but it didnt clear up in time so I had to use another one and true to form it only game 2 2p coins and from the sound I knew they were copper plated steel....however on leaving things started to brighten up when I realized I had my first floral pound coin , then I realized something was amiss ...one 2p had The Second written on the obverse thats when I knew I had hit paydirt !

I got these at the same machine I got the 2p on page 11 , isn`t it ironic.... Every cloud has a silver lining

Well done numisrob

Looking on ebay I think that the WW I commemorative coin is in circulation from this weekend so let's hope we hear about those on here too .

The Irish 2014 £1 seems to be out as well since the start of the month :)

Hi folks, I think its time to cash in my " shrapnel " tubs.
2 Years of throwing my change into tubs has left me with a lot of sorting to do !
I did have all bar 2 of the £2 coins but let them go to a young relative, still have a lot of the 50p's though.
I will post pics of any interesting finds in there.

The commonwealth games & euro football were not meant for circulation, someone was skint and broke open a coin set by the looks of it.

@tenbobbit I'm not sure about other banks but Nat west have a great shrapnel counting machine which means you don't have to bag them up or lose a large percentage in a supermarket machine

Thx for the heads up allthe2ps, there is no way I could stand in a supermarket feeding such a load into the machine irrelevant of what they charge. I will pop in and see what there % take is, Thx again.

Strange how the old style £2 still manage to circulate, although both the ones I've come across in the past year (both were the english Bill of Rights) had been refused elsewhere :D

Also, looks like you've got the rarest commonwealth games £2, N.Ireland.

I came across this earlier in the week...

Assume it's a clogged die.

Also, while I'm here... Changechecker are doing their Coin-Swap deal for the new Kitchener £2
http://desktop.changechecker.org/
I did it for the Glasgow Games 50p earlier in the year.

thebbbit - You might want to consider sorting through the 2 pound coins and the 50 pence coins.

Any old style UK coins can since there are many folks still looking for them including myself since I still need a 1992 50 pence Single Market - EEC or 1989 2 Pound Claim Of Rights coins.

With regards to the 50 pence coins, you would not want to through a Kew Gardens 50 pence back into circulation.

The Commonwealth £2 are also ones to pull out.

As an example, here is a want list that I have from a collector in Oz.

1992 20 Pence
2009 50 Pence - Kew Gardens
2002 2 Pound XVII Commonwealth Games in Manchester - English Flag
2002 2 Pound XVII Commonwealth Games in Manchester - Scottish Flag
2002 2 Pound XVII Commonwealth Games in Manchester - Welsh Flag
2003 2 Pound 50th Anniversary of the discovery of DNA
2005 2 Pound Standard Reverse
2012 2 Pound Olympic Handover

So I would sugges you stick around, get to the number of posts so you can take part in trading/selling coins here. So unless you need the cash quickly, I would not be in a hurry to put those into a coin counter.

My HSBC branch has a coin counter as well.

RED, thanks for the heads up about the £2 swap. Looks like a trip to bank on Monday is in order so I cam get some £2 to swap out.

I managed to win an ebay for one of the underground coins, never came, the guy sent it the day before I went off to Africa, and I dithered because I wasn't sure if it had arrived or not, even though had it sent to my parents house, and then I lost my money because it hadn't arrived and I couldn't put in a claim a two months later.... boo.

But you have quite a few coins you could make a bit of money on there. 4 quid seems the going rate or more for the underground coin, and the commonwealth coins are worth something, not sure about the mono-metallics as I managed to get mine from circulation.
