Well done peterh! I've had several 2021 10p's, but hadn't got a 2022 20p until this afternoon - got it in change at McDonalds!

Surprising how few new(ish) British coins there are. Plastic seems to be taking over. I try to use cash if I'm in a small independent shop so they don't have to pay the suits for the privilege of my using my card. And as for getting on buses... it takes longer for the machine to make its mind up than for the poor old driver to find change, half the time. One wonders who it's all so convenient for!

Nice find, NumisRob! Quote: so they don't have to pay the suits for the privilege of my using my card Many businesses here have started adding a 4% surcharge on card purchases.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Quote: Surprising how few new(ish) British coins there are. Plastic seems to be taking over. Yesterday I was buying a coffee from the buffet at my local train station and started getting out some coins. The man at the till asked me to pay by card because he "had too many coins in the till". I did. On reflection, I should have given him a £20 note and asked for change in coins, but there was quite a long line of passengers behind me waiting to pay and then needing to get to the right platform for the London train, and I wouldn't have wanted to cause a delay while he counted out the change...
