Hint: The painting was pulled from a Wikipedia posting of Paul Cezanne.

The painting is supposedly titled:

Girl at the piano The Overture to Tannhauser: The Artist's Mother and Sister

The reason I chose this painting has not yet been stated.

1. Chang from Star Trek VI only has half his eyes
2. 1776 was the year the guy who designed the CBH was born
3. The painting, as well as the coin featured a woman
7. 1839 O is a key date half and thus a prime coin

Nope, sorry Nod! None of these are correct (at least as far as my reasons for choosing them as hints anyway!)

Excellent answers though! Very imaginative! I like the Chang one!

Hint: There were 4 types of clues given in my contest to the 1839 O Capped Bust half dollar:

1. Clues for "Half"
2. Clues for "U.S." (though you all mostly figured that out quickly!)
3. Clues for the year 1839
4. Clues for New Orleans, i.e., the O mint mark

All 7 of these hints answered one of the above categories.

deadmunny has 6 of the 7 correct!!

3. painting by Cezanne who was born 1839 (year on coin)
4. MSY = airport code for New Orleans (mint mark)
5. Hints (hemisphere, yin, etc) examples of halves (half dollar)
6. bandana on lady refers to figure on (Capped Bust half)

bandana-wearing NFL defensive back (bandana same reference as #6)
Could x = 21? He wore jersey #21

Ok new day and I can come up with only this for #7

12 refers to half a day (12 hours, 12:00, etc)

12 + 1.35 = 13.35 grams the weight of "your" old coin even if RedBook reports 13.36 grams.

Okay, here goes. Thanks very much for the prize so far; I'm going for a "twofer"!

1. Chang and Eng Bunker were the original "Siamese Twins"; they immigrated to the US in 1839. Chang would be one half of the pair.

2. 1776 hints that we are looking for a US Coin.

3. The painting was from Cezanne, who was born in 1839.

4. MSY is the Airport Code for New Orleans; the coin had to have been minted there, since there was a US Mint in operation there in 1839.

5. Dorsal, PM, Darkside, Hemisphere, Semi, Yin all hint at half of something.

6. The picture literally shows a bust wearing a headscarf comparable to that found on a "Capped Bust" coin. As well, when you right click on the picture in order to save it to your hard drive, the title that comes up is "201034_CappedBust".

7. To satisfy the mathematical equation, where Prime Time = Deion Sanders = #21, x must be 19.65 (note that 1+9+6+5 = 21), whereby 19.65 + 1.35 = 21. Interestingly enough, the individual numbers in both 1776 and 1839 (the two other dates mentioned), when added together in the same way as 19.65 was, note that the answer in both of these cases is also 21.

for the 7th hint

x+1.35 = primetime where x = primetime - 1.35 (and primetime 3.5hours orleans) then x = 2.15 or 2.15mm the exact thickness of the 1839 capped half dollar

the others
1. Hint "Chang" for the siamese twins for "half"
2. Hint "1776" For the country - continental USA just starting
3. Hint Cezzane painting- for the year of the coin 1839, the painter was born 1839
4. Hint "MSY" for the mintmark O Orleans (airport code for New Orleans)
5. Words meaning of halves - for the coin denomination
6. Bandana hint for the "capped" bust coin headgear

True but Nod2003 got 4,5 and 6 correct first. This part of the contest is for correct answers to ALL 7 hints. The first person who publishes all 7 correctly in their post will win the additional Morgan.

You just helped out your fellow CCfers with your brain power! Nice!
