So I dropped into the bank and bought 2 more boxes today. Unfortunately, one box was completely filled with 2016's I opened a few rolls and 100% of the dimes I looked through were 2016. The second box had a nice mix of the years, but there was nothing worth keeping.

Here are the 5 Roosevelt's that I found yesterday. And the box of 2016's.

I was having bad luck with an order of halves, so dropped by the bank and bought 4 boxes of dimes in hopes to find silver to lighten the mood. Earlier this week, I had a box that was completely filled with 2016's. I checked a few rolls from each box and they're all looking promising! I opened 10 rolls before work and found 2 silver Roosevelt's. I'm looking forward to looking through the rest this weekend. That should offset the disappointment from the halves.

When I'm searching through dimes, I've just been rim checking. I haven't been looking at each dime individually. I'm wondering if i'll pass up a Barber dime if it comes through. Has anyone found a Barber just on a rim check? I'm curious what one might look like from the side next to a bunch of clad. I'm sure it varies, but a rough estimate would be interesting to see. Any thoughts?

Take care,

Sauce

Yesterday I found a few Mercury's. One was a 1921 D!

Sauce, try selling the 2016s roll by roll or in lots. You'd be surprised by the demand of modern coins. Just look at the bay!

@Sauce, a few years back I found six Barbers in a 12-box BOA dime order, just rim checking. I found over 30 silver dimes and several mercs also. I only rim checked when I searched.

Thanks for the advice!

RoyCoinBoy, I didn't even think about the bay / other collectors potentially wanting those 2016's. I guess it's treasure to someone!

fistfulladirt - I hope to have that kind of success someday It's also comforting to know that other CRH'rs just rim check the dimes too. I sometimes wonder if anything cool passed through my fingers. I'm sure at some point it's happened. But time efficiency is important to me too. I can go through more rolls rim checking than looking at each coin / date, so I'm hoping the power is in the numbers

Take Care,

Sauce

Back when I was doing loads of copper pennies and dime sorting, I had gotten several boxes of dimes like this. Every time, I was able to sell the box for 300 plus shipping. No joke. There's also the option of course of selling them for 6.00 per roll.

I got my first box of dimes today along with my second box of nickels. Hopefully I'll turn up a Mercury or Barber in the mix.

Well two days ago I got myself a box of dimes, unfortunately they were all brand new 2016 dimes
Today I went to a different bank and got another box of dimes, this time all CWR and I'm glad I did
Found 39 US dimes, 3 British 5 pence and a 1967 fishy and a 1966
