and I quote Krause 2010 "Transnistria has a president, parliament, army and police forces, but as yet it is lacking international recognition" There are probably a few people who think they are independent...and I have KM#1- 5 from there.

I ask this because my Krause calls it Moldavian Republic. Are they actually issued by Transnistria ?

They are a part of Moldova, and Moldova does not accept their (including financial) separation. I don't know who mints their money but they issue their own ruble/kopeck (spelled exactly like Russian counterpart) money.

So it is a Republic across the river from Moldavia. Cool, and they say you can't teach an old dog.

Rather it's a republic within a republic. But the population there is predominantly Russian, and they believe Moldova does not fully represent their interests.
