If it happend in the last 6 months it could be something else that caused it to tone that you added to your safe if thats where you kept them. I think anytype of battery, say like in a watch or something might cause that.

WOW what a jolt. We moved some coins into a new safe that has the digital combination and supported by two batteries. I never thought this could be a problem.

Dangerous if you don't know exactly what and/or how to do that. could end up doing worse than now.

Highly unlikely those batteries created that problem. They are usually incased in a holder and very doubtfull of an electrical current running through anything from them.
