A Guidebook of United States Coins: The Official Red Book by R. S. Yeoman, Kenneth Bressett, Q. David Bowers and Jeff Garrett.
The Official Red Book, or just "red book" to collectors, is the go-to publication for US classic, modern, and Colonial-issued coin information. The Red Book covers everything from Colonial issues to half cents, state quarters to gold coins to mint and proof sets, and everything in between. Technical data, history, mintages, and color photographs are included for the different coin series.
Each year's edition contains updated mintage figures and auction record pricing, along with different articles on relevant collecting subjects such as investing and grading. It also covers pricing in many different grades, but prices are on the high side and do not reflect real-world pricing, especially when selling between collectors. Pricing charts can be used to compare relative pricing within a series, however, and are therefore still useful.
Available in hardcover, softcover, spiral, large print and other special editions depending on the publication year.
