Cleaned, still a great example of early US gold.
If I'm buying, I'd call it XF-45.

Although it could possibly be a combination of bad lighting and photography, but it looks like it has been wiped or aggressively cleaned, unfortunately.

This is a good example of not using my pictures for a true in hand experience
of a coin. This is really a nice looking coin.. in hand.

Here are my pictures

The TruView image shows the coin much better than the initial pics in the ICG holder. It looks like a nice example for the date. I'm actually looking for a nice 1807 Bust Lefty in original, no-question AU condition if anyone has one kicking around.

Nice coin PCGS likes it and I still think XF-45 to 50 with an old cleaning.

FWIW: I don't see the slightest evidence of cleaning or any intentional surface alteration.

The light surface striations & patterns are perfectly consistent with a coin that has spent some time moving around in a pocket. The color (if accurate) is also what one would expect from a lightly circulated gold coin.

One can argue that's a "wiping" or a "cleaning", but no credible TPG is going to withhold grading because the surfaces reflect use.

Definitely a great result: congrats to the owner!

Question: do you know if the coin was submitted as a crossover or cracked-out and sent in as a raw coin? If crossover, was a minimum grade specified?

I am pretty sure it was sent in as a crossover.

I will have to ask about the minimum specified grade. I don't want to
say without being sure.

The owner seems pretty happy with the results.
