I finally found my first banknote signed by Ms Lagarde. Of course, it's a 5 printed in Austria (plate number N020) which were the first to show up in circulation. The note is already a bit worn.   |

Thanks for posting, redlock! First one I've seen. It may be some time before I get to a Eurozone country again!
It's funny how the signatures get easier to read - the first two were illegible squiggles!

Nice 500 note A few days ago, I actually saw one in the wild. I hadn't seen one there for at least five years. It was at a huge hardware store. I was waiting at the central help desk/central cashier point when a cashier from a ''regular'' check-out line came. A customer wanted to pay with a 500 note. But the cashier didn't have enough return money in his till. The lady at the help desk put the 500 in one of those machines that check if the note is genuine or not. It was. Then, she put it in the central till -- faster than you can say ''Hello.''  She gave the cashier ten 50 notes in return. |
