Well the 1851-O Three Cent Silver Piece Trime 3c Type 1 has arrived, it is currently taking a bath in some acetone at the moment.
When I post it up and I see a drastic change in appearance I'll post up a before and after image. If no change is noted, then I'll just post up the 'after' image.

So, go grab some popcorn, sit back and wait for the cartoons to start.

Well no real change, but then I didn't wat it soaking very long. This is a nice coin, a bit rare, only 720,000 minted. So finding a pristine specimen in great condition is difficult at best, This one is not one of those 'perfect' ones. But I'm happy with it, It had a rim ding at the top but otherwise not too bad, it shows a little bit of circulation, I place it in the low AU category.
you be the judge: (I did up-size the image from 430 pixels to 600 for viewing, so lets see how it looks)

To be honest, I don't like enlarged photos, after magnification, "noises" appear on the photo and it is difficult to evaluate the coin. But I congratulate you on a good purchase. Keep going and don't stop.

Thanks Slerk, I agree with that too. But If I didn't enlarge it some, we would be hearing just the opposite - you know, "too small" or "can't see anything" and the such..

Hi Dearborn. Any updates since your last post? I just read through your 7070 Type collection journal which I saw in one of your signatures and saw you started with the 1943 Steel Lincoln Cent. That's what I am currently looking for in my 7070.

Question about the 1864 2C coin you showed on April 24, 2023. I recently purchased a coin that had that same sheen on it in the photo. I have not received it yet. To me, that surface looks like it has been coated with an oil. Is that correct, or are my eyes deceiving me?

I started my 7070 a few months ago, but did not document the order in which I filled spaces as completely as you. I do it on a printout of the actual pages. I can carry it around with me if I go to a coin shop so I can see what I have already. Here's mine. Feel free to delete the images if it does not belong in your thread.

I decided not to use any Proofs since I knew I could not get all of the coins as Proof. I wanted to keep them all limited to MS. Not knocking your additions of Proofs!

that coin of mine does not have any type of oil or stuff on it, that is the actual luster of the coin.

But I have no updates on this set (yet)

Thanks Dearborn. The photo on yours and mine looks like it has oil on it. I see it pays to see the coin in your hand.

That is not a bad idea.
