yep, I avoid any listing that has stock image. I want to see the actual coin I purchase. (unless they are reselling soon to be released coins from the mint and they use the mint images.)

Dearborn, is there any reason to buy a pre-release from the Mint on ebay, rather than buying directly from the Mint? I've never done it, and can't understand the reasoning of the buyer. Well, I guess if you're buying single coins from an upcoming Roll set or bags, it might make sense. I'd still rather buy from someone who has them in hand.

That doesn't really explain why you'd buy a pre-release, rather than waiting until the items were in the seller's possession.
I can see an incentive from the seller's perspective...collect money enough to purchase from the Mint when it becomes available.

I recently bought a couple 2025 Peace dollar ms70s from a large retailer. There were no pictures of the exact coin. Thankfully they came and look good. I was ok with the risk on a modern coin but would not take the risk with older coins that may have toning, etc.

Quote:Dearborn, is there any reason to buy a pre-release from the Mint on ebay, rather than buying directly from the Mint? Not usually, However, for my Dansco albums for quarters and the P/D Innovation coins, I buy or 'pre-buy' for the quarters and innovation dollars because I only need one for the album - and I don't need the entire roll to get that single coin from each issue. I do buy the quarter P/D rolls to put up on my shelf with the other rolled quarters still in the OGP boxes. like these (and I have been buying the boxed rolls for a very long time now and just don't want to open them for 1 quarter from each. So I have a seller I have been buying from for years now and get one of their 'subscription for the coins I want.

That's a nice stash of rolls, Dearborn. What will you eventually do with them?
BTW, are those vinyl albums on the bottom shelf?

Thanks Gary! I do have lots more of the boxed quarters than that - I was reorganizing them when that image was taken.
and Yes, that would be my vinyl record collection - I have quite a few of them most of them are first or possibly second pressings.

Are all of the boxes still sealed? Will you eventually go through them?
I have two vinyl collections. The newer one has a few hundred colored vinyl albums. I've thought about starting a topic in General Discussions but I don't know if anyone would be interested.

I also have a few of the newer PF albums too, I did manage to get the limited edition 'Blood' record - only 5000 of them are sequentially numbered. and a first press collectors edition of Deep Purple "Perfect Strangers" on purple vinyl. I nave never put a needle to this one

I remember you saying you were a fan of Pink Floyd. And your avatar speaks for itself.
